What to do when in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a great city for walking and that’s exactly what we love doing.
Greyfriers church and cemetery is up via Candlemaker Row. You will pass the famous greyfriers bobby.
Our favourite breakfast place Thomas J Walls is further ahead on Forrest Road.
The National museum of Scotland is a short walk away after you’ve had coffee and breakfast. You can spend a whole day there or just visit one area.
Walk to Royal Mile, see the St Giles cathedral, visit Edinburgh Castle.
Maybe time for lunch at Devil’s Advocate. Follow up with whisky tasting at Whiski Rooms.
Well refreshed walk to the Scottish National Gallery on The Mound. It is small but full of breathtaking portraits and paintings.
You are now very close from the busy Princess Street and the new town in general. Time for some shopping.
The night out can start at Tonic for some great cocktails. Lulu is the fanciest night club around but we find CC Blooms more relaxed and great for late drinking and messy dancing.
Now that was a busy first day and night in Edinburgh but you have only scratched the surface!
Get some wine, cheese, olives and bread and head for a picnic at Arthur’s Seat.
Visit Portobello Beach on a sunny day to see dogs, families, couples… All while having a beer and a bite in the sun while watching the waves.
Go for a walk in the historic Dean Village. Take a moment to listen to the birds singing and the running water of river Leith. Make sure to bring a camera.
